DR Strategy: Pilot Light

Definition

A disaster recovery strategy where only critical components (typically a replicated database) stay active in the DR region, while the rest of the infrastructure (EC2, application services) is switched off and only started/scaled during an actual failover.

Exam context

In SAP-C02 it sits between Backup & Restore (cheaper, slower) and Warm Standby (more expensive, faster). Typical RTO: 10-30 minutes; RPO: minutes, depending on database replication frequency.
