DR Strategy: Multi-Site Active-Active

Definition

A disaster recovery strategy where two or more regions receive production traffic simultaneously. If one region fails, Route 53 instantly diverts traffic to the remaining regions, achieving near-zero RTO and RPO.

Exam context

In SAP-C02 it's the most expensive and complex strategy (it requires solving bidirectional write data replication), but the only one that offers RPO=0 and RTO≈0. Route 53 failover routing with health checks is the typical switching mechanism.
