VPC (Virtual Private Cloud)

Definition

A private, isolated virtual network in AWS where you launch resources such as EC2, RDS, or Lambda. It gives you full control over the network environment: IP ranges, subnets, route tables, and gateways.

Exam context

Fundamental for CLF-C02 and SAA-C03. Every AWS account has a default VPC per region. Key concepts: public subnets (internet access) and private subnets (no direct access). Question: where do you place a database so it is not reachable from the internet? A private subnet.
