OpEx (Operating Expenditure)

Definition

The ongoing spend a business incurs to keep day-to-day operations running. In the cloud, this corresponds to paying for resource consumption — no upfront investment, you pay based on actual usage.

Exam context

In AZ-900 and CLF-C02, the cloud turns CapEx into OpEx: instead of buying servers, you pay monthly for what you use. Question: main advantage of the pay-as-you-go model? Answer: it converts CapEx into OpEx, giving greater financial flexibility.
